Additional Remarks
Between April and September, the District also diverted approximately 600 acre-feet of water into its service area directly from the DMC under its CVP water supply contract. While these diversions were made for various District and grower-driven operational reasons, these equate to substituting the CVP for an equivalent quantity that could have been diverted directly from the San Joaquin River under Water Right License 3957. The monthly Maximum Rate of Diversion values included in this report represent the average monthly diversion rates in cubic feet per second under Water Right License 3957 (262.15 cfs), which allows "the equivalent of such continuous flow allowance for any thirty day period may be diverted in a shorter time if there be no interference with other vested rights". During Water Year 2023 the District had instantaneous flows that exceeded the average monthly rate within allowance of the right.
