West Stanislaus Irrigation District hosted a District wide buried drip workshop presented by Cal Poly, Irrigation Training and research Center. As a result of the workshop roughly 200 acres went into buried drip for tomatoes. the degree of water conservation due to the buried drip is 200 AF. West Stanislaus Irrigation District participated in a grant program for water conservation. This grant funded a tail water settling pond/return pond. Tail water from 850 acres passed through this pond last year before either discharging into a creek or pumped to irrigate crops. Total water conserved through this project in the 2009 irrigation season was 80 Acre feet.
